Why GTA Homeowners Choose Rhino For Drywall & Interior Painting
Drywall and painting are the finishing layers that determine how professional your entire renovation looks. You can have the best cabinets, the best flooring and the best fixtures — but if the drywall has visible seams, nail pops or uneven texture, or if the paint has roller marks, thin coverage and uneven cut lines, the entire renovation looks cheap. These final steps deserve the same attention as everything that came before them.
At Rhino The Renovators, our drywall and painting crews are specialists — not general contractors doing everything. We hang, tape, mud and sand to a Level 5 finish standard where required, and we prime every surface correctly before a single coat of paint goes on. Our painters work with premium paints in the correct sheen for each room — flat for ceilings, eggshell for living areas, satin for kitchens and bathrooms and semi-gloss for trim and doors.
Drywall installation and interior painting are core parts of our winter service offering. When our outdoor crews wrap up for the season, our interior finishing team is fully focused and available for basement developments, full home repaints, post-renovation finishing and new construction drywall across the GTA from November through March.
Our Drywall & Painting Services
Complete interior finishing for GTA homeowners — from new drywall installation and patch repairs to full interior repaints

Full Drywall Installation
We supply and install drywall throughout entire homes, basements, additions and renovation projects. All drywall is hung on correct stud spacing, screwed to manufacturer specifications and taped, mudded and sanded to a smooth, paint-ready Level 4 or Level 5 finish. We use moisture-resistant drywall in all bathroom and kitchen areas and fire-rated drywall in garages and mechanical rooms where Ontario Building Code requires it. Best For: Basement developments, home additions, full renovation projects and new construction finishing.

Drywall Repair & Patch Work
We repair drywall damage of any size — from small nail holes and minor dents to large sections damaged by water, impact or plumbing and electrical work. All repairs are blended seamlessly into the surrounding wall texture so the repair is completely invisible after painting. We also repair nail pops, tape cracks and corner bead damage throughout older GTA homes. Best For: Post-renovation patching, water damage repairs, older homes with cracked or damaged drywall and pre-sale home preparation.

Full Interior Painting
We paint complete home interiors including walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets using premium paints in the correct sheen for each surface. Every project starts with proper surface preparation — filling holes, sanding rough areas and applying the correct primer coat before any finish paint goes on. We use low-VOC paints throughout for a healthier indoor environment and a long-lasting, washable finish. Best For: Full home repaints, post-renovation finishing, new construction painting and any interior space ready for a fresh, professional look.

Basement Drywall & Paint Finishing
Finishing a basement requires specific materials and techniques — moisture-resistant drywall on all exterior walls, proper vapour barrier installation behind the drywall and the correct primer for below-grade concrete surfaces. We handle complete basement drywall and paint finishing as a standalone service or as part of a full basement development project including framing, electrical and flooring. Best For: Unfinished basements being developed into living space, rec rooms, home offices, gyms and legal basement suites.
Our Proven 4-Step Drywall & Painting Process
A flawless painted finish is the result of what happens before the paint — preparation, priming and proper sequencing. Here is exactly how we deliver a professional result on every project.
Step 1: On-Site Consultation & Surface Assessment
We visit your GTA home, assess the scope of drywall work required and discuss your paint color preferences, sheen selections and any specific finishing requirements. We provide a fully itemized written quote covering all materials and labor — no vague estimates and no surprise charges mid-project.
Step 2: Drywall Installation, Taping & Finishing
We hang all drywall on correct stud layout, apply fibreglass mesh or paper tape at all joints and apply multiple coats of joint compound with proper drying time between each coat. After the final mud coat is fully dry, we sand all surfaces smooth to a consistent Level 4 or Level 5 finish and clean the site thoroughly before priming begins.
Step 3: Priming & Paint Application
All surfaces receive a full coat of the correct primer — drywall primer on new drywall, bonding primer on previously painted surfaces where required and moisture-resistant primer in all kitchen and bathroom areas. Finish paint is applied in two full coats with a quality roller and brush cut lines at all edges, corners and trim for a clean, sharp finish throughout.
Step 4: Trim, Touch-Ups & Final Inspection
All trim, doors and baseboards receive their finish coats last, keeping paint lines sharp and clean between wall color and trim color. We perform a full room-by-room inspection, touch up any imperfections and complete a thorough site cleanup before your final walkthrough. You receive a completely finished interior ready for furniture and immediate use.

Frequently Asked Questions About Drywall & Interior Painting
Q: What is the difference between Level 4 and Level 5 drywall finish?
- A: Level 4 is the standard finish for most painted interior walls — all joints, fasteners and corners are coated and smooth with no visible imperfections under normal lighting. Level 5 adds a full skim coat of joint compound over the entire surface, creating a perfectly smooth wall that shows zero texture variation even under harsh raking or gloss paint. We recommend Level 5 for any area receiving high-sheen paint, feature wall treatments or high-end decorative finishes.
Q: How many coats of paint do you apply?
- A: Every project receives a proper primer coat followed by two full finish coats of premium paint. We never skip the primer or apply only one finish coat regardless of how light the color change is. Two coats over a proper primer is what delivers the even, washable coverage that lasts for years without fading, peeling or showing roller marks.
Q: What paint sheen do you recommend for each room?
- A: We recommend flat or matte for ceilings, eggshell for main floor living rooms and bedrooms, satin for kitchens and bathrooms where moisture resistance and washability matter and semi-gloss for all trim, doors and baseboards throughout the home. Using the correct sheen in each location dramatically improves both the appearance and the durability of the finished result.
Q: Can you match existing paint colors for a repair or patch job?
- A: Yes. We use paint matching technology to get as close as possible to your existing wall color for patch repairs. For the most seamless result on larger repairs we recommend repainting the entire wall from corner to corner — this eliminates any slight sheen or color variation between old and new paint that can sometimes be visible even with a perfect color match.
Q: Do you use low-VOC paints?
- A: Yes. We use premium low-VOC interior paints on all residential projects. Low-VOC paints have significantly reduced odor during application and dry to a harder, more washable finish than older paint formulations. This is especially important for families with children, pets or sensitivities to paint fumes — your home is livable much sooner after we finish.
Q: Can drywall and painting be combined with other renovation work?
- A: Absolutely. Drywall and painting are almost always the final stage of a larger renovation — after new framing, plumbing, electrical and flooring are complete. We coordinate our drywall and painting crews to arrive at exactly the right point in your renovation sequence so there is no waiting and no overlap with other trades. We also combine drywall and painting with flooring installation as a complete interior finishing package for basements and full home renovations.
